Can a stomach fat dissolving injection flatten the lower belly?

Most people who type that phrase want the pouch below the navel dealt with in one appointment. G Clinic answers it with G-fat, an extraction procedure: a fine cannula enters through one micro-entry point per area and a dedicated suction device pulls the fat cells out, so the volume is gone before you leave the building. The abdomen is divided into palm-sized areas — upper belly, lower belly, flanks, love handles — and each area you decide to treat is priced on its own, with no ceiling on how much is taken from it. Treatment happens under local anaesthesia while you are awake and talking, performed by one of three resident medical directors, all board-certified Family Medicine specialists. Most abdomen areas need one visit. What suits your midsection is settled face to face at a free consultation.

The Visit

How an abdomen G-fat visit actually runs.

From the first pen mark on your belly to the compression band going on, one of the three resident directors handles every stage personally.

  1. 01

    Mapping the midsection

You stand up and the director draws on you. Upper belly, lower belly, the flank rolls above the hip bone and the love-handle pad each get their own outline, because a waist reads as one curve and the fat sitting under it does not. Your goals and health history are reviewed in the same sitting, the consultation is free, and nobody asks you to decide that day.

  2. 02

    Numbing the abdominal wall

Local anaesthetic is infiltrated across the marked zones. You stay awake, you can talk, and you can tell the director what you are feeling while the work is going on. Sedation is available as an option at an additional cost for people who would find the session easier that way.

  3. 03

The G-Lifting pass across the belly

A patented special cannula travels the skin–fat layer first to prompt tightening, which matters on an abdomen because this is the zone people worry will hang once the volume is gone. Extraction then follows through the same micro-entry point per area, the suction device holding a steady pressure while the director shapes the line.

  4. 04

    Compression and going home

A compression garment goes on before you stand up, and you are told how long to keep it there. Most people walk out and get on with the day. Follow-up body-care sessions on devices such as Noble Shape, MPR and Coolshape are available afterwards if the surface needs help settling.

Areas, Not Zones

Why the abdomen is treated as separate palm-sized areas.

An abdomen is rarely one problem. Someone may carry a soft pad below the navel while the upper belly is flat, or have a waist that looks fine from the front and rolls over the waistband from the side. G Clinic therefore treats the midsection as a set of areas, each roughly the size of your palm: upper abdomen, lower abdomen, flanks, love handles. You choose which of them are worth treating, and the director tells you which ones will actually change your silhouette.

That structure is also how the procedure is counted and quoted. One palm-sized area is one area; because flanks and love handles sit on both sides of the body, treating both sides counts as two. Within any single area there is no cap on how much is removed, so the director extracts what the contour needs and stops when the line is right.

The wider background on what G-fat is, how it developed through three generations of technique, and how it sits against injectable lipolysis is covered on the G-fat Fat Extraction hub. This page stays on the abdomen.

Planning

Planning upper abdomen, lower abdomen and flanks together.

The lower belly is the request the clinic hears most. It is the pocket that survives a stable weight and a disciplined year at the gym, it sits directly behind a waistband, and it is the first thing many people see in a mirror at the end of the day. Treating it alone is perfectly reasonable, and plenty of patients do exactly that.

The catch is that a belly is read alongside the waist beside it. Empty the lower abdomen while leaving a full flank and the eye still sees width, so directors frequently propose the lower abdomen together with flanks, or the whole front of the midsection where the upper belly carries volume too. Multi-area planning within one visit is normal here: because the fat leaves on the day, several abdominal areas can be handled in the same session, so a plan rarely needs spreading across appointments.

Some patients arrive planning a whole-body sequence and treat the midsection first, then return for the limbs. If that is you, the sibling pages for the upper arm and the thigh set out what those zones involve, and a director can sequence them around your travel dates.

Suitability

Who the directors treat, and who they turn down.

Abdomen G-fat suits people whose weight is reasonably steady and who can pinch a defined layer of fat over the area they dislike. It is a contouring procedure for a specific patch of the body and it does nothing for visceral fat sitting behind the abdominal wall, which is one reason a firm, round, hard belly is assessed carefully before anything is offered.

Some people are told no, or told to wait. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, the directors will not operate on the abdomen until that chapter is over. Uncontrolled medical conditions and certain medications do the same until they are settled. Patients with a BMI of thirty or above are looked at case by case and a surcharge applies where treatment goes ahead. Where a post-pregnancy bulge comes from separated abdominal muscles, or where the examination raises a suspicion of a hernia, that is a surgical question and the director will refer you for proper assessment before any contouring is discussed.

There is also the opposite situation: plenty of fat has already gone, the skin is lax, and there is very little left to extract. Removing the small remainder would not improve that abdomen, so the director is likely to suggest G-Tight, the ultrasound-based option, or a body-care course, and to say plainly that extraction is the wrong tool. The same conversation happens in reverse for the inner thigh, where skin quality drives the recommendation as much as volume does.

Results

How the belly looks in the weeks after extraction.

The volume change happens during the session, since the fat is physically taken out of the room. What you see over the following days is that reduction plus swelling, which on an abdomen can feel tight and slightly bloated under the compression garment. The genuine contour appears as the swelling drains away and the skin re-adheres to the wall beneath it over the following weeks.

Abdominal skin behaves in its own way. It stretches easily and it has usually done so before, whether through weight change or pregnancy, so the way it settles depends on your elasticity and on how much came out. This is exactly the concern the G-Lifting cannula pass is aimed at, and it is the reason the director spends as long on your skin quality at consultation as on volume.

The extracted cells have left the treated area. The cells left behind can still enlarge if your weight climbs, so a stable weight is what protects the change you paid for. Some patients pair the visit with skin-quality work such as skin boosters, and results differ from person to person, so every case photograph on this page carries a consent note and a variability note.

Safety

Abdomen-specific risks worth knowing first.

This is a minimally invasive procedure and it carries real risks, which your director goes through with you before you agree to anything. Bruising, swelling and tenderness across the treated belly are expected in the first days, along with patches of numbness that take time to fade. Less often, patients develop surface irregularity, a seroma, firm nodules under the skin, skin laxity, infection at the entry point, or visible asymmetry between the two flanks.

An abdomen has particular things to watch. It is a large surface, so unevenness shows more readily than it does on a limb; both sides of the waist have to be judged against each other while you are upright; and a garment that is worn loosely lets fluid pool where it is least wanted. Tell the clinic your full medical history, every medication and supplement, any previous abdominal surgery, and any past reaction to anaesthetic.

Afterwards, wear the compression as instructed, keep the micro-entry point clean and dry, and contact the clinic quickly if pain, redness, discharge or swelling increases after the first few days. A resident medical director is on site during opening hours, so there is always a doctor who can look at the area.

Downtime

Back at your desk the same afternoon.

Most abdomen patients leave under their own steam and return to desk work or light errands the same day. Sitting is the part people ask about: an office chair is manageable from the start, though the waistband area feels tight and you will want to stand up more often than usual for the first week. Long-haul flights, heavy lifting, saunas and hard core training wait until the director clears them.

Swelling and bruising across the midsection peak in the first two or three days and then recede. Firmer patches can stay tender for a week or two, and the compression garment plus the clinic’s body-care programme help the surface even out. Loose waistbands and dark clothing make the first week considerably more comfortable.

If you are flying in for this, keep a few days in Seoul after the procedure so a director can inspect the abdomen before you travel, and expect to wear compression on the plane. Our coordinators fit the appointment around your itinerary once you send your dates. Patients treating limbs on the same trip can compare notes on the arm page, where the recovery pattern differs.

Scientific Evidence

Published research on awake suction fat removal.

Suction removal of fat under tumescent local anaesthesia, with the patient awake, has been examined in the peer-reviewed literature for decades. Work on tumescent technique has tested the efficacy of a lower lidocaine concentration in liposuction (Böni, 2010), a factor in whether an awake procedure is practical at all. Technique papers have documented machine-assisted aspiration combined with syringe aspiration in a described five-incision method (Langdon, 2000). Safety at scale has been reported in a consecutive series of 3,240 liposuction cases performed exclusively under tumescent local anaesthesia (Habbema, 2009). These papers describe the method category of awake suction fat removal; they are not statements about G Clinic’s own results, and they say nothing about what your abdomen will look like. That conversation belongs with your director.

Pricing

How abdomen areas are counted and quoted.

The abdomen is charged by area, and the published rates apply to every patient who walks in. One palm-sized area counts as one; flanks and love handles treated on both sides count as two; and within an area the amount removed is uncapped, so a fuller belly does not change the figure for that area. How many areas your plan needs is settled at the free consultation.

TreatmentOptionPrice (KRW)
G-fat fat extractionper area (1 area ≈ one palm-sized zone; both sides = 2 areas)₩275,000
G-Lifting (3rd-generation G-fat)per area (1 area ≈ one palm-sized zone; both sides = 2 areas)₩330,000
Ultra G-fat (ultrasound + extraction)per area (1 area ≈ one palm-sized zone; both sides = 2 areas)₩385,000

Priced per area, not by volume: one area is roughly the size of your palm, treating both sides counts as two areas, and there is no cap on the amount removed from an area. Sedation (optional) and BMI 30+ carry an additional fee confirmed at consultation.

FAQ

Stomach and abdomen questions.

Is the G-fat injection a fat-dissolving shot or something else?

The name suggests a dissolving shot, but G-fat injection physically removes fat. G Clinic developed it in Gangnam, Seoul, reporting 20,000+ cases since 2018. Local anaesthesia keeps you awake; one micro-entry per area lets a fine cannula with device suction take fat out the same day, priced by palm-sized area. Family members include third-generation G-Lifting, whose special cannula stimulates skin tightening before extraction, and Ultra G-fat, ultrasound plus extraction. Read the full story on the G-fat Injection page.

Is a stomach fat dissolving injection the same thing as G-fat on the abdomen?

They work differently. An injectable treatment places a solution that shrinks belly fat cells so your body clears them across a course of appointments. G-fat draws the cells out mechanically through a cannula and a suction device in one sitting under local anaesthesia, so the abdomen is physically emptier when you stand up. The background on both approaches is set out on the G-fat Fat Extraction hub.

Why is the lower belly the area people ask about most?

Because it is the pocket that ignores everything else you do. Many patients arrive at a weight they are content with, having trained consistently, and still see a pad sitting below the navel that pushes against a waistband. It is also the first area visible in a mirror at the end of a long day, so it becomes the thing people want addressed even when the rest of the midsection is fine.

Do the upper belly, lower belly and flanks count as one area or several?

Several. Each palm-sized zone is counted on its own: upper abdomen, lower abdomen, flank and love handle are separate areas, and anything treated on both sides of the body counts twice. That is how the plan is quoted. The upside is that there is no ceiling on the amount taken from any one area, so a fuller zone and a modest one are treated on the same terms.

Will my abdominal skin sag once the fat is taken out?

Skin behaviour is the honest limit of this procedure on the abdomen, and it depends on your elasticity and on how much volume leaves. The G-Lifting cannula pass runs through the skin and fat layer before extraction specifically to prompt tightening in that zone, and compression plus the body-care programme support the weeks afterwards. Your director will assess your skin at consultation and tell you what to expect.

Can I go back to desk work the same day after abdomen G-fat?

Most people do. You leave on your own, wearing a compression garment, and light office work is manageable straight away, although the waistband area feels tight and you will want to stand up regularly during the first week. Heavy lifting, hard core training, saunas and long flights wait until your director clears them at follow-up.

Will I be awake while my abdomen is treated?

Yes. The midsection is numbed with local anaesthetic and you stay awake through the session, able to speak to the director and say what you are feeling as the work goes on. Sedation is available as an option at an additional cost if you would rather be drowsy, and the director will talk through whether that is appropriate for you.

How soon will my waistband actually feel different?

The volume goes during the visit, so something changes immediately, but swelling masks a good deal of it for the first days and the belly can feel tight under compression. Most patients notice clothing sitting differently once the swelling drains over the following weeks, and the final line continues to refine after that as the skin settles against the abdominal wall.

Can belly fat come back after abdomen extraction?

The cells removed from the treated area are no longer in it. The cells still present in your body, including those left in the abdomen, can enlarge if your weight increases, so keeping your weight steady is what protects the shape you leave with. Nobody at the clinic will tell you the result is beyond the reach of future weight gain.

My stomach is loose but there is little fat left to remove. What then?

Then extraction is probably the wrong procedure and the director will say so. Taking out a small remainder from a lax abdomen tends to leave the skin looking worse, so the usual suggestion is G-Tight, the ultrasound-based option, or a course of body care aimed at firmness. You are welcome to come for the assessment and be told that the answer is no.

My abdominal muscles separated after pregnancy. Can I still be treated?

That needs assessing first. A bulge caused by separated abdominal muscles, or anything on examination that raises the possibility of a hernia, is a surgical matter and no amount of fat extraction addresses it. In that situation the director refers you for proper evaluation before any cosmetic plan is discussed. Pregnancy and breastfeeding also rule the procedure out for the time being.

What can go wrong with an abdomen extraction?

Expect bruising, swelling, tenderness and patchy numbness in the first days. Less commonly, patients experience surface irregularity, a seroma, firm nodules, skin laxity, infection at the micro-entry point, or asymmetry between the two sides of the waist. A large surface such as the abdomen shows unevenness more readily than a limb does, which is part of why compression and follow-up matter.

Can abdomen G-fat be combined with other treatments on one trip?

Often, yes. Several abdominal areas are routinely handled in one session, and limbs can be sequenced into the same visit or a later one, as the thigh and inner thigh pages describe. Some patients add facial work such as face lifting while they are in Seoul. Your director confirms what is sensible to combine.

How do I book an abdomen consultation from abroad?

Send your details and travel dates through the consultation form and our coordinators reply on the messenger you prefer, in English. The consultation itself is free, and you can ask about area counts, recovery, or how many days to keep in Seoul before deciding anything. Patients comparing zones often read the upper arm page at the same time.
