Ultherapy Prime in Gangnam, Seoul — How Shot Tiers, Imaging and Ultherapy Korea Price Structure Work

Every session is mapped and delivered by Dr. Hong Seung-hyuk, Dr. Maeng Woo-jae or Dr. Hong Yeong-ho, the three resident directors, each a board-certified Family Medicine specialist practising aesthetic dermatology. Your shot map is drawn zone by zone with your own skin layers on the ultrasound screen, so the count you are quoted is the count your face was judged to need.

  • ✦Ulthera Authenticity Certified Clinic — genuine equipment, confirmed by the manufacturer
  • ✦Published shot tiers at 100, 200, 300 and 400 shots, quoted before anything is agreed
  • ✦Clinic-reported 20,000+ lifting cases since 2006, with English spoken in the treatment room

What does Ultherapy Prime cost in Korea, and what sets the number?

Shot count sets it. G Clinic publishes four Ultherapy Prime tiers — 100, 200, 300 and 400 shots — so your quote follows the map a director draws on your face rather than a package label chosen in advance. A small count answers one narrow complaint, such as a softening jaw line; the largest carries cheek, jaw and neck in one sitting. Treatment runs roughly 30 to 40 minutes depending on that count, uses numbing cream while you stay awake, and lets you keep your plans for the rest of the day, with puffiness and a flush easing over the days after. The feature the name refers to is the screen: your tissue layers are imaged live while energy is placed at the SMAS. G Clinic describes the hold as six months to a year or more. Your tier is fixed in person at a free consultation.

Inside the Room

An Ultherapy Prime appointment, from zone count to last pass.

Four stages, all of them handled by a resident medical director, with the count settled before any energy is spent.

  1. 01

    Counting zones before counting shots

A director examines the face upright and in motion, then breaks it into working zones: cheek, jaw line, the pad under the chin, the neck. Each zone takes a share of the total, and the shares added together give the tier you are quoted. This examination is free, and you are welcome to leave with the plan and think about it.

  2. 02

Cream anaesthesia, and why you stay awake

Numbing cream is spread across the mapped area and left long enough to take hold. Being awake is useful here: focused ultrasound is felt as brief deep warmth, and what you report between passes tells the director how you are tolerating each line. Sedation can be arranged where a patient genuinely needs it, at an additional cost.

  3. 03

Reading your layers on screen, then treating

The transducer images your tissue live before it fires. The director confirms how thick the skin sits at that exact spot and where the SMAS lies underneath, then places the line of shots. Roughly 30 to 40 minutes covers the treatment itself, and that window widens with the number of shots your map calls for.

  4. 04

Walking out, and when you are seen again

Nothing is bandaged and nothing is stitched, so you leave under your own steam and return to daily life that day. Puffiness and a warm flush across the treated lines are ordinary and pass within days. A review point is set for weeks later, since the tissue answer is what the appointment was for.

The Device

What Ultherapy Prime is, and what the imaging adds.

Ultherapy Prime belongs to the micro-focused ultrasound family. Sound energy is concentrated to a point well below the surface, at the SMAS, the fibrous sheet a surgeon repositions during a facelift. Each focal point deposits energy in a very small pocket of tissue; your body answers those pockets over the following weeks by rebuilding collagen around them. Skin is crossed but never opened, so there is no wound to dress.

What the Prime generation carries is visualisation. Aiming is no longer a matter of landmark and feel alone: the director watches an ultrasound image of your own layers on a monitor and confirms depth for each line before it is delivered. Faces are not built to a standard: a cheek carrying a full fat pad and a cheek that has thinned with age sit at different depths, and the screen makes that difference visible in the moment.

G Clinic is registered as an Ulthera Authenticity Certified Clinic, the manufacturer's confirmation that the equipment used on your face is genuine. Where this device sits against the clinic's radiofrequency and thread routes is set out on the Face Lifting hub, which covers the whole line-up.

Shot Mapping

How a shot map is built, zone by zone.

A shot is one delivery of focused energy at one point. Lines of them are laid across a zone in a pattern the director decides, and the arithmetic of those lines is the whole basis of the quote. Because the total is counted, the clinic can publish tiers at 100, 200, 300 and 400 shots and hold every patient to the same published figure for the tier they end up in.

Where the count goes depends on what you want moved. A complaint limited to a blurring jaw line occupies one working zone and lands at the lower end of the published range. Add the cheek, because the mid-face has flattened and the fold beside the mouth has deepened, and the map grows. Take the neck as well, and the plan reaches toward the top tier. None of this is decided from a photograph emailed ahead of your trip; it is drawn on your face in the room, and directors regularly recommend a smaller map than the one a patient arrived asking for.

Two people can leave with the same tier and a completely different distribution across the face, so the number alone tells you little without the map beside it. Patients weighing this device against the other ultrasound platform in the clinic usually read Ultherapy vs Shurink before the consultation, since both are quoted by shot count and the distinction lies elsewhere.

Suitability

Who gets a shot map, and who is sent away without one.

The device suits skin that still has body, where the complaint is early to moderate slackening: a jaw line losing its edge, a cheek beginning to drift downward, texture and density that have thinned with age. Those are the axes the clinic lists for its lifting work, and they usually arrive together in one face.

Several situations end the conversation. Severe laxity is the common one: when the tissue has descended past the point a collagen response can hold, a director will say that energy has reached its limit and refer you for a surgical opinion, and no tier is offered as a consolation. Pregnancy and breastfeeding postpone treatment outright. So does active infection, inflamed or broken skin inside the field, and any medical condition that is not currently stable. Metal implants, fixation plates or an implanted electrical device in or near the mapped area take that zone out of the plan until it has been assessed, so declare them at the first appointment.

There is also the case of mistaken diagnosis. Where the heaviness under the jaw turns out to be fat volume and not slackened tissue, energy is the wrong instrument and the plan moves to G-fat Fat Dissolving Injection; where a surgical route for volume is what you are weighing, the Liposuction in Korea page describes it. And where skin reads thin and crepey across a broad field, the directors raise Volnewmer radiofrequency in place of a focused-depth device.

Timeline

What the weeks after your last line of shots look like.

Very little is visible on the day. Some patients report a mild tightness on the way home; the substantive change arrives slowly, as collagen is laid down through the treated depth and the slackened line draws upward. The clinic describes the concerns this work addresses as skin density, texture, pores, elasticity, a dropped line, general signs of ageing, lost volume and fine lines, and those do not all move at the same speed.

For hold, G Clinic gives six months to a year or more. Where a particular face lands inside that span turns on age, starting laxity, skin quality and what you do afterwards, so treat the range as a range and plan repeat sessions around your own review, never around a calendar rule. Where a line has already dropped beyond what a collagen response will carry, mechanical support is the discussion instead, which is what Thread Lift covers.

The two courses shown on this page are records of individual patients at this clinic, published with consent, and they promise nothing for a third face. A director will tell you at consultation when the realistic answer for your anatomy is a modest change, and that conversation happens before you book, never after.

Named Risks

Welts, nerve irritation and the rest of what you should hear first.

This is a medical procedure delivering real energy into living tissue, and the risk list is discussed with you before consent. Commonly: bruising, swelling, redness and skin that is tender to the touch, all belonging to the first days. Less commonly: small welts raised along a treated line, temporary numbness across a patch of skin, nerve irritation felt as tingling or a heavy sensation, and visible asymmetry between the two sides of the face while things settle.

Your history is what lowers those odds. Tell the director about medication and supplements, any bleeding tendency, previous filler, threads or energy work in the same field, implanted electrical devices, metal in the treatment area, and any history of keloid or pigment change. Depth control is the reason the imaging matters at all: energy placed where it belongs is energy that is not spent on structures it should avoid.

Afterwards, contact the clinic promptly if pain climbs after the first days, if redness spreads, or if a numb patch shows no sign of receding. One of the three medical directors is on site through clinic hours, so a worried patient is examined in person and not reassured over a message.

Afterwards

Same-day plans, and the week that follows a session.

There is no dressing, no stitch and no recovery room. Makeup goes back on for most patients, work continues, and the flush and puffiness that follow a session fade within days. Tenderness when you chew, press the jaw or lie on one side can outlast that by a little and is not a sign that something went wrong. Heat is the thing to hold off: saunas, hot yoga and hard training wait for the window your director specifies.

Travellers ask about sequencing more than anything else. Booking the appointment early in the stay leaves room for a face-to-face check before departure and means the puffiness has gone by the time you are photographed at home. Coordinators arrange that in English once you send your dates through the consultation form, including patients fitting a lifting session around treatment elsewhere in the clinic during the same trip.

Scientific Evidence

Literature on ultrasound guidance, tightening measurement and complications.

The papers below are listed for what their titles cover, and for nothing beyond that. One examines ultrasound used to improve the safety of hyaluronic acid filler treatments (Schelke, 2018), which speaks to the general principle of imaging tissue before an instrument is committed to it. A second reports a quantitative analysis of face and neck skin tightening by microfocused ultrasound with visualization in Asians (Lu, 2017). A third is a case series and review of the literature on complications from microfocused transcutaneous ultrasound (Friedmann, 2017). These are descriptions of a technique category in the published record; they are not statements about outcomes at G Clinic, and they say nothing about what your own face will do. That belongs to the consultation with your director.

FAQ

Ultherapy Prime questions.

Why is Ultherapy Prime in Korea priced by shots and not by area?

Because a shot is the unit of work. Each one is a single delivery of focused energy at a single point, so a map made of lines of shots can be counted exactly, and a counted plan can be published as a tier. G Clinic lists four: 100, 200, 300 and 400 shots. Area pricing would hide how much energy a face actually received, and the count keeps that visible on your quote.

How many shots will my own face need?

That is settled with a director in person and not before. The examination breaks the face into working zones — cheek, jaw line, under the chin, neck — and each zone you decide to treat takes a share of the total. One narrow complaint sits at the lower end of the published range; cheek, jaw and neck together push toward the top. Directors frequently suggest a smaller map than the one a patient came in asking for.

Does the imaging screen genuinely change anything for me?

It changes where the energy lands. Skin thickness varies across one face and between two faces, so a depth setting that is correct on a full cheek can be wrong on a thin one. With visualisation, the director confirms the layer under the transducer before firing a line, which keeps the energy at the SMAS and away from structures that should not receive it. That is the safety argument for the Prime generation.

What does it feel like, and can I be sedated?

Numbing cream is applied and given time to work, and you stay awake for the whole session. Most patients describe short bursts of deep warmth as each line goes in, stronger over bone such as the jaw and lighter over softer areas. Being able to talk lets you tell the director how each pass is landing. Sedation can be arranged where it is genuinely needed, at an additional cost that is stated beforehand.

When will I actually see something in the mirror?

Not on the day, in most cases. A little tightness immediately afterwards is common, but the change that matters is built by your own collagen over the following weeks, and the clinic sets a review point for that reason instead of checking you at the door. Patients who photograph themselves under consistent lighting tend to spot the shift earlier than those judging by memory alone.

How long does the result hold, and when can I repeat it?

G Clinic describes a hold of six months to a year or more, and where your face lands inside that span depends on your age, how much laxity was present at the start, your skin quality and your aftercare. Repeat timing is therefore set by review and not by a fixed calendar. Your director looks at the face again and tells you whether another map is worth booking yet.

Is this the same treatment as Shurink?

They share a family and sit in the same room, and both are quoted by shot count. The separating feature here is visualisation: your layers appear on a monitor and depth is confirmed before each line, while the other platform is planned by hand and by landmark. A full side-by-side is set out on Ultherapy vs Shurink, and the device page itself is Shurink HIFU.

What can go wrong after a session?

Bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness are the common events and belong to the first days. Less often, patients report small welts raised along a treated line, temporary numbness over a patch of skin, nerve irritation experienced as tingling or heaviness, or asymmetry between the two sides while everything settles. Your director walks through the whole list before consent, and the clinic asks you to report climbing pain or spreading redness early.

When would a director refuse to treat me?

When severe laxity has passed the point energy can hold, you are told that plainly and referred for a surgical opinion, with no tier sold to fill the gap. Treatment is also postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, where infection or inflamed skin sits inside the field, and where a medical condition is unstable. Some patients come for the assessment and leave with a recommendation against booking, which is a legitimate outcome of a free consultation.

I have a metal plate in my jaw. Can I still have this?

Declare it at the first appointment. Metal implants, fixation plates and implanted electrical devices in or near the mapped area take that zone out of the plan until it has been assessed, and depending on what the assessment finds the director may treat around it or decline that zone entirely. The same applies to previous threads or filler in the same field, which changes how a director maps the lines.

Can I fly home the day after treatment?

Many patients do, since there is no wound, no dressing and no recovery room involved. The clinic still prefers you to keep a day or two in Seoul so a director can look at the face before you leave, mainly because puffiness and a flush along the treated lines are at their most obvious in that window. Coordinators build the appointment around your itinerary once you send dates.

Will Ultherapy Prime fix a double chin?

It depends entirely on what the chin is made of. Where the heaviness is slackened tissue, a mapped plan across the jaw line and under the chin is a reasonable route. Where the heaviness is fat volume, energy aimed at the SMAS is the wrong instrument and the consultation moves to the G-fat Fat Dissolving Injection side of the clinic, or to Liposuction in Korea where a surgical route is being weighed.

Who performs the treatment, and how do I book in English?

Dr. Hong Seung-hyuk, Dr. Maeng Woo-jae and Dr. Hong Yeong-ho deliver every map personally; all three are board-certified Family Medicine specialists and all three are on site during clinic hours. G Clinic has treated international patients since 2006 and consults in English without an interpreter. Send your details through the consultation form, or read the wider Face Lifting hub first, and a coordinator replies on your preferred messenger. Patients weighing mechanical support instead can start at Thread Lift.
