How Much Fat Can Be Removed With Liposuction at One Time? The G-fat Answer in Gangnam, Seoul

Scope belongs to the doctor holding the cannula. Three resident medical directors work on site — Dr. Hong Seung-hyuk, Dr. Maeng Woo-jae and Dr. Hong Yeong-ho, each a board-certified Family Medicine specialist practising in aesthetic dermatology — and the one who examines you weighs your BMI, your skin and the number of areas on the plan before any amount is discussed.

How much fat can be removed with liposuction at one time?

No figure exists that applies to everyone, and any quote given before an examination is guesswork. G Clinic answers the question structurally instead. The G-fat injection, despite the name it carries, is an extraction procedure: a cannula enters through one micro-entry point per area and a suction device draws the fat cells into a 5,000cc canister, so the volume leaves the body during your appointment. Each treated area is about the size of a palm, counts as one area, and the fee for it stays the same however much is taken out. What varies is scope, and scope is a medical judgement. Your BMI, your skin quality, your overall health and how many areas you want handled in a single sitting all feed into what a director considers sensible for one visit. Most areas are finished in that one appointment, and the plan is fixed face to face at a free consultation.

The Decision

How a director settles how much comes out.

Four stages stand between your question and a figure that applies to your body. Every one of them happens with a resident director in the room.

  1. 01

    Measuring what is genuinely there

You are examined standing up, because fat sits differently once you lie down. The director pinches each zone you dislike, checks how the skin springs back, notes your height and weight, and asks what your weight has done over the past year. Deep fat behind the abdominal wall cannot be reached by any cannula, so part of this stage is separating what is treatable from what is not.

  2. 02

Why the plan is counted in areas

Marks go on your skin in palm-sized blocks. Upper belly, lower belly, a flank, an outer thigh and an inner arm are each one area, and anything treated on both sides of the body counts twice. Your plan is then a number of areas, which is what gets quoted and what determines how long you are on the bed.

  3. 03

Local anaesthetic, and you stay in the conversation

The marked zones are numbed and you remain awake, able to speak to the team throughout. That matters for volume questions: the director can ask you to stand, check symmetry against the other side, and adjust while you are still able to give feedback. Anyone who would find the session easier drowsy can take up the optional sedation, which carries an additional cost.

  4. 04

The G-Lifting pass, then machine extraction

A patented special cannula travels the skin and fat layer first to prompt tightening, and only then does device suction begin at a steady pressure. Whatever is drawn out goes into the 5,000cc canister in one uninterrupted run. Compression goes on before you get up, and the clinic body-care programme is offered afterwards for the surface.

The Unit

What a palm-sized area actually buys you.

Most people arrive expecting the amount to be sold by volume, because that is how surgical fat removal is usually discussed. G Clinic counts differently. The unit here is an area roughly the footprint of your hand, and the published rate for that area applies whether the zone is modestly full or very full. Within any one area there is no cap written into the fee, so the director takes what the contour needs and stops when the line reads correctly standing up.

That policy is possible because of how the machine works. Extraction runs into a single 5,000cc canister at constant pressure, so a fuller area does not interrupt the session or change the arithmetic of the appointment. The first generation of this technique pulled through a 50cc cylinder by hand, which made larger zones a matter of repeated effort; the current protocol removed that constraint. How the G-fat injection acquired its name and grew through three generations of technique is set out on the G-fat Injection page.

One thing the area model does not do is turn this into weight loss. Extraction reshapes a defined patch of your body. The cells taken from that patch do not come back, and the cells left elsewhere can still enlarge if your weight climbs, so the change you leave with is protected by keeping your weight steady.

One Visit

Several areas in a single sitting, and when to split them.

Because the fat physically leaves on the day, a plan rarely needs spreading across appointments. Most areas are done in one visit, and patients commonly combine adjoining zones — the lower belly with both flanks, or an inner thigh pair with the knee-adjacent zone — so the silhouette changes as one piece. A midsection request usually reads better when the waist beside it is treated at the same time, which the Stomach Fat Dissolving page walks through zone by zone.

There is a ceiling on how many areas belong in one sitting, and it is a clinical one. An awake local-anaesthetic procedure has practical limits: how much anaesthetic is appropriate for your body, how long you can lie comfortably, and how much surface can be looked after sensibly afterwards. When somebody asks for arms, abdomen and thighs on a single afternoon, a director will usually shorten the list and offer the remainder on a second date.

Travellers plan around this. Patients flying in for a body trip often take the trunk first and return for limbs, or sequence limbs across two visits a few days apart. If arms are on your list, the Upper Arm Fat Dissolving page covers what that zone involves, and the Thigh Fat Dissolving page does the same for the legs. Coordinators build the order around your dates once you send them.

Suitability

BMI, skin, and the requests a director says no to.

The good candidate for a larger single-session extraction has a steady weight, a pinchable layer over the zone in question, and skin with reasonable spring. BMI is part of the assessment because it shapes both what is reachable and how the body copes with the session. Patients at a BMI of thirty or above are looked at case by case, and a surcharge applies where treatment goes ahead.

Refusals are a normal part of the consultation. Dr. Maeng Woo-jae or either of his fellow directors will decline outright if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and will postpone until an uncontrolled medical condition is settled. A firm, round, hard belly usually points to fat behind the abdominal wall, which no extraction reaches, and saying that plainly is more useful than selling you an appointment. Where a post-pregnancy bulge traces back to separated abdominal muscles, or where the examination raises the possibility of a hernia, the director refers you for surgical assessment before any contouring is discussed.

The reverse case comes up just as often: very little fat left, skin that has already lost its spring, and a request to keep removing. Taking out the small remainder tends to leave that zone looking worse, so the suggestion is usually G-Tight, the ultrasound-based option, or a course of body care aimed at firmness. Patients whose request is genuinely small-scale are sometimes pointed to Mini Liposuction Korea and told that a single modest area is all their body needs.

Results

What a larger single-session volume looks like afterwards.

The volume change is immediate, since the cells are carried out of the room in the canister. What you look at for the next several days is that reduction combined with swelling, and the more that came out, the more swelling there tends to be. The shape you actually bought appears as fluid drains and the skin settles back against the tissue beneath it over the following weeks.

Skin is where a large extraction is won or lost. Empty a full zone quickly and the covering has to re-adhere across a wider gap, which depends on your elasticity, your age and how stretched that area already was. The G-Lifting cannula pass exists for exactly this reason, running the skin and fat layer before suction begins to prompt tightening, and it is why the director spends as much of the consultation on skin quality as on volume.

Expectations are worth setting against the photographs. A person who had a great deal removed and a person who had a modest amount removed can end up equally pleased, because the measure that counts is the line, and results differ from person to person. Patients weighing this against surgery often read Non-Surgical Liposuction alongside this page.

Safety

Named risks when more volume leaves at once.

This is a minimally invasive procedure carrying real risks, and your director goes through them before you agree to anything. Bruising, swelling and tenderness across the treated zones are expected in the first days, along with patches of numbness that take weeks to fade. Less frequently, patients develop surface irregularity, a seroma, firm nodules under the skin, skin laxity, infection at the micro-entry point, or visible asymmetry between two sides that were treated together.

Scale changes the weighting of that list. A bigger treated surface shows unevenness more readily than a small one; two sides of the body have to be judged against each other while you are upright; and fluid management matters more when more tissue has been disturbed. Those considerations are part of why an awake local-anaesthetic session has a sensible working range, and why a director shortens an ambitious list before the day arrives.

Tell the clinic your full medical history, every medication and supplement you take, any previous surgery on the areas concerned, and any past reaction to anaesthetic. Afterwards, wear the compression as instructed, keep the entry points clean and dry, and contact the clinic promptly if pain, redness, discharge or swelling increases after the first few days. A resident medical director is on site during opening hours.

Downtime

The week after a bigger extraction, and your flight home.

Most patients leave under their own steam and manage desk work or light errands the same day, wearing a compression garment. The larger the plan, the more you feel it in week one: tightness, an ache when you change position, and a strong preference for loose clothing. Swelling and bruising peak within the first two or three days and then recede.

Firmer patches can stay tender for a week or two while the surface evens out, and the clinic body-care programme on devices such as Noble Shape, MPR and Coolshape is there for that phase. Heavy lifting, saunas and hard training wait for clearance at follow-up.

If you are flying in, keep a few days in Seoul afterwards so a director can inspect the areas before you travel, and expect to wear compression on the plane. Longer plans deserve more buffer than short ones. Visitors comparing itineraries and budgets usually look at Liposuction Korea Cost at the same time, and the wider traveller questions are gathered on Liposuction Korea Reddit.

Comparison

Scientific Evidence

Where the published literature sits on awake suction and skin.

Suction fat removal performed with the patient awake under tumescent local anaesthesia has a long publication record. Safety at scale was reported in a consecutive series of 3,240 liposuction cases carried out exclusively under tumescent local anaesthesia (Habbema, 2009). Technique reporting has described a five-incision method on the neck and jowls that combined machine-assisted aspiration with syringe aspiration (Langdon, 2000). Skin behaviour after the fat is gone has its own literature, including an examination of skin retraction following liposuction in patients over the age of 40 (Bank, 1999). These papers describe the method category and the questions clinicians ask about it. They are not statements about G Clinic’s own results, and they cannot tell you what amount is appropriate for your body — that belongs to an examination with a director.

Pricing

Why the fee stays still while the volume moves.

Each palm-sized area carries a published rate, and that rate is the same for every patient who walks through the door. A zone treated on both sides of the body counts as two areas. Because the amount removed inside an area is uncapped, a fuller zone and a lighter one are quoted identically, and nobody is billed by how much ends up in the canister. How many areas your plan needs is the only variable, and it is settled at the free consultation.

TreatmentOptionPrice (KRW)
G-fat fat extractionper area (1 area ≈ one palm-sized zone; both sides = 2 areas)₩275,000
G-Lifting (3rd-generation G-fat)per area (1 area ≈ one palm-sized zone; both sides = 2 areas)₩330,000
Ultra G-fat (ultrasound + extraction)per area (1 area ≈ one palm-sized zone; both sides = 2 areas)₩385,000

Priced per area, not by volume: one area is roughly the size of your palm, treating both sides counts as two areas, and there is no cap on the amount removed from an area. Sedation (optional) and BMI 30+ carry an additional fee confirmed at consultation.

FAQ

Questions about amounts and limits.

Is there a maximum amount of fat that can be removed in one G-fat session?

Not one printed on a page. The fee structure places no cap on the amount taken from a treated area, so the limit you meet is clinical rather than commercial: your director decides what is appropriate from your BMI, your skin, your health and how many areas are on the list for that day. What you get at the consultation is a scope for your body, arrived at by examination.

Why do surgical liposuction discussions mention litre limits when this page does not?

Because the two settings count different things. Surgical practice measures total aspirate for an operation and sets thresholds above which a case is managed as large-volume with inpatient care and monitoring. G-fat is carried out in a clinic room under local anaesthesia with you awake, and it is planned and quoted by palm-sized area, so the working limit is the director’s judgement on the day and no published figure stands in for it.

What is the 5,000cc canister, and why does it matter?

It is the collection container the extraction device draws into. Its relevance is continuity: the session runs without pausing to swap a container, which is what a syringe-based approach through a 50cc cylinder required. The canister capacity describes the equipment in the room and says nothing about how much will come out of you, since that is decided by examination.

Can I have my abdomen, arms and thighs all treated on one day?

Usually the answer is that some of it belongs on a second date. Several areas in one sitting is normal here and most areas are completed in a single visit, but an awake procedure has practical limits on anaesthetic, on how long you lie there, and on how much surface can be cared for sensibly afterwards. A director will shorten an ambitious list and propose an order that suits your travel dates.

Does a higher BMI mean more can be removed?

It works the other way round. BMI is an assessment input, not a permission slip. Patients at thirty or above are reviewed case by case and a surcharge applies where treatment proceeds, and a high reading often means a share of the volume is deep fat behind the abdominal wall that no cannula can reach. The director will say which part of what you can see is actually treatable.

How much of my body weight will I lose from a G-fat course?

Nobody at the clinic will put a figure on the scale for you, because this is a contouring procedure and not a weight-loss method. What changes is the shape of the zones treated and how clothing sits on them. Patients who expect the scale to be the measure of success tend to be disappointed by a result that looks excellent in a mirror, so the director frames the discussion around the line instead.

If more fat comes out, does the recovery get longer?

Generally the first week feels more demanding: more swelling, more tightness under compression, and more soreness when you change position. Most patients still return to desk work the same day. The bruising and swelling peak in the first two or three days across any size of plan, and larger plans simply take longer to reach their settled contour as fluid drains over the following weeks.

Will my skin sag if a lot of volume is taken from one area?

Skin behaviour is the real limit on ambitious plans, and it depends on your elasticity, your age and how stretched the area already was. The third-generation G-Lifting pass runs a patented cannula through the skin and fat layer before suction begins specifically to prompt tightening in that zone. Compression and the clinic body-care programme support the weeks afterwards, and your director assesses your skin before agreeing any scope.

Will I be asleep while a large amount is extracted?

No. Local anaesthetic numbs the marked zones and you stay awake and talking, which lets the director check symmetry with you and ask how you are doing as the work progresses. Sedation is available as an option at an additional cost if you would rather be drowsy, and whether that suits you is discussed at consultation. The team never names a drug over messenger.

Can the fat come back if a lot of it was removed?

The cells taken out of the treated zone do not return. Cells still present elsewhere in your body can enlarge if your weight increases, so a stable weight protects the shape you leave with. This is true whether a large amount or a small amount was removed, and nobody here will tell you the result is beyond the reach of future weight gain.

Does the price change if my area is fuller than average?

It does not. The published rate attaches to the palm-sized area, and the amount removed within that area is uncapped, so two patients with the same plan pay the same figure regardless of how much ends up in the canister. Treating a zone on both sides of the body counts as two areas. Your free consultation is where the area count is fixed.

Who decides my scope, and can I ask for more than they propose?

One of three resident medical directors examines you and sets the scope. You can certainly ask, and you will get a reasoned answer, but the final call sits with the doctor performing the procedure. Requests that fall outside what an examination supports are declined, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding and while an uncontrolled medical condition is unresolved.

How do I get an amount estimate from abroad before I fly?

Send your details, photographs and travel dates through the consultation form and coordinators reply in English on the messenger you prefer. Expect a range of plausible area counts rather than a fixed volume, since scope is confirmed only after an in-person examination in Gangnam, Seoul. The consultation itself is free, and you are free to decide nothing on the day.
