Belotero Revive in Gangnam, Seoul — the Hydrating HA Booster, and Where It Parts Company With Rejuran

Every syringe on this line is assessed and placed by Dr. Hong Seung-hyuk, Dr. Maeng Woo-jae or Dr. Hong Yeong-ho — three medical directors who are board-certified Family Medicine specialists practising in aesthetic dermatology and who have run this Gangnam address since 2006. The treatment appears on the booster sheet in a smaller and a larger volume, and you sit awake under a numbing cream while it is placed.

Is Belotero Revive the same idea as Rejuran, and how is the line quoted at G Clinic?

They belong to one category and work through different materials. Belotero Revive is a hyaluronic acid preparation formulated with glycerol, so its argument is water: holding moisture in the dermal plane and letting surface quality follow from that. The salmon-derived polynucleotide used in the Rejuran line argues from a different starting point, and a director chooses between them after examining how your skin actually behaves. Neither adds contour and neither pulls a slack line upward. G Clinic publishes Revive in a smaller and a larger volume on its booster sheet, so a quotation is simply the volume your map calls for, at the rate any patient pays. Protocol figures for this specific line, including how a course is spaced, are given to you in person because the clinic has not published a separate sheet for them. The consultation in Gangnam, Seoul carries no fee.

The Visit

How a Belotero Revive appointment unfolds on Dosan-daero.

Four stages, from the first look at how much water your skin is losing through to the instructions you carry back out onto the street.

  1. 01

Reading dryness ahead of any syringe

A director examines the way your skin holds water: whether it feels tight within an hour of cleansing, whether fine surface lines appear across the cheek when you smile and stay visible afterwards, how make-up behaves by the middle of the day, and how quickly the skin turns pink under pressure. Past injectable work, allergies, current medication and any reaction you have had to a hyaluronic acid product are written down in the same sitting. That examination decides whether this material is offered to you or a different one is.

  2. 02

Cleansing and the numbing wait nobody should shorten

Make-up is removed, the zone is cleansed and a numbing cream is spread across it and left to take effect. The waiting is the reason a short treatment occupies a longer slot in your afternoon, and pushing the team to cut it is a poor exchange for the comfort you lose. While the cream works, the director marks out the zone that is actually being treated, which is frequently smaller than a patient assumed on the way in.

  3. 03

Placing the hydrating gel through the dermal plane

The director works across the mapped area with a fine needle, depositing small amounts through the dermis at measured spacing so coverage is spread evenly across the zone and does not pool in one patch. You are awake, local anaesthesia is limited to the cream, and you can ask for a pause at any moment. Sedation forms no part of this appointment; it exists as an optional extra at additional cost in connection with other procedures, and no medication is named anywhere on this website.

  4. 04

Cooling, written instructions and a review date

Cooling settles the immediate heat, and you are told what to keep away from the treated skin over the following days. The director then sets the rhythm of any further visits against what your examination showed, and books the review at which the zone is looked at again once it has calmed. Nothing is sold as a fixed package before that second look, and you are free to stop after one visit.

The Material

What hyaluronic acid carrying glycerol is asked to do in dry skin.

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule your own dermis already makes, and its defining property is how much water it will hold beside itself. Belotero Revive is manufactured as a hyaluronic acid preparation combined with glycerol, a humectant that also attracts and retains water. Placed through the dermal plane across a mapped zone, the preparation is asked to raise the water content of the layer it sits in. The skin you can see is the roof over that layer, and its behaviour, the way it reflects light and the way it creases, follows from what is underneath.

The clinic describes a skin booster in category terms: active material delivered directly into the dermis so the skin’s own health and condition improve from within. The outcomes it lists for the category are moisture, texture, pore appearance, elasticity, radiance, tone and fine surface lines. Those are quality outcomes and they are the honest ceiling of any material on this sheet, this one included. Which member of the category suits your skin type and present condition is a selection made in the room, and the clinic states plainly that the choice depends on the individual.

It matters that this preparation is not being used as a contouring product even though hyaluronic acid is the base of many products that are. A volumising gel is engineered to sit in a pocket and hold a shape. A hydrating booster is engineered to spread through a plane and hold water. Same molecule family, different manufacture, different placement, different question being answered. If what you want addressed turns out to be a hollow temple or a flattened cheek, the material on this page is the wrong tool and a director will tell you so before you book.

Two Volumes

One material, two published volumes on the Revive line.

G Clinic lists this treatment in a one-cubic-centimetre option and a two-cubic-centimetre option. The volume is not a grade of quality and the larger one is not a better version. It reflects surface area: a targeted zone across the cheeks consumes less material than full-face work carried out to the temples and jawline, and a director will not round a plan upward simply to reach the next line on the sheet. You are quoted for the volume your map requires, and if the map shrinks after examination, so does the quotation.

Where this material turns out to be a poor fit, the conversation moves sideways without pressure. Our Skin Boosters hub sets out the whole category and how a director selects between the materials on it. Juvelook occupies a neighbouring position on the same sheet with its own indication and its own certification. And when a patient’s real complaint on examination turns out to be localised body fat and not skin quality at all, that belongs with G-fat Fat Dissolving Injection and is dealt with there.

One point of transparency about this page. The clinic publishes detailed protocol figures for some booster lines and has not yet signed off an equivalent sheet for this one, so you will not find invented session lengths or invented duration figures written here. What is published is the material, the two volumes and the rates. Everything else about how your own course would run is given to you verbally by the director who examined you, which is the only place those numbers would be worth anything.

Suitability

Who suits a Revive course, and the requests a director turns down.

The patients this material fits describe dryness as their central complaint. Skin that feels tight soon after washing. A cheek that reads dull in photographs taken indoors. Fine surface lines that deepen in winter or after a long flight and soften again once the skin is rehydrated. Foundation that clings to dry patches by mid-afternoon and refuses to sit flat. Skin thinned and roughened by years of acids, retinoids, sun or simple weather. Those are hydration and surface-quality complaints, and that is the register this preparation works in.

Some patients are declined in the room, and the reason is given to them. A previous hypersensitivity reaction to a hyaluronic acid product takes this material off the table and no workaround is offered, so declare it and expect a firm answer. Active infection in the intended zone, inflamed acne lesions, an open cold sore or eczema across the area postpones the appointment until the skin has settled. Pregnancy and the breastfeeding period rule the appointment out altogether. Bleeding disorders, anticoagulant medication and uncontrolled medical conditions are weighed one at a time, and a director will decline where injecting you would be unwise.

The refusals that happen most often are the quieter ones. A patient arrives wanting a mid-face that has flattened to be rebuilt, and hydration will not rebuild it. A patient wants melasma or sun-damage pigment cleared, and moisture in the dermis does not address pigment. A patient wants a jawline that has descended to be pulled back up, and no booster on any sheet lifts tissue. A patient with a deep static fold expects it closed, and it will not close. In each of those cases the director at G Clinic states the limit, declines the booking, and you leave without paying for anything.

Results

How a Revive change shows itself over the following weeks.

You will not walk out transformed, and any account that says otherwise is describing something else. On the day you leave with puncture points across the treated zone, some pinkness and possibly small raised areas where material was deposited. That appearance belongs to the injecting and carries no information at all about how the treatment will read once the skin has settled.

What patients report afterwards is behavioural before it is visual. Skin that stops feeling tight an hour after cleansing. Fewer flaking days. Foundation that spreads evenly across the cheek instead of catching. Light bouncing off the surface more consistently, which is the effect people describe as glow and which photographs pick up sooner than a mirror does. Fine surface lines look softer when the layer beneath them is better hydrated, and look more obvious again when it is not, which is what makes a booster a course of visits and never a single event.

How long you personally hold that depends on your starting skin condition, your age, sun exposure, how much water you drink and how well you look after the barrier between visits. The clinic has not published a duration figure for this line, so nobody here will quote you one; your director gives you a realistic expectation after examining you and revises it at your review. Individual results vary, and any case images a director shows you in the consultation room are shared with patient consent.

Safety

Named risks of a Revive injection, spelled out at the consultation.

This is a medical injection and it carries genuine risk. Bruising is the commonest event and the one that most often disrupts a plan, since a mark on the cheek can take the better part of a week to fade. Swelling, tenderness, pinkness and small raised areas at the deposit points belong to the first day or two. Itching across the treated zone is reported and usually settles with the rest of it.

Less frequently, a palpable lump or nodule forms where material was placed and can be felt for longer than anyone would like. Infection at an entry point is uncommon, is treatable, and is the reason the skin is cleansed properly beforehand and the reason you are told to keep your hands off it. Pigment change following inflammation can occur, particularly in skin that pigments readily and particularly where strong sun reaches the area while it is settling. Hypersensitivity to an injected hyaluronic acid preparation is possible in anyone, and considerably more likely in a patient who has reacted to one before and did not mention it. Injecting into or compressing a vessel is a recognised complication of injectables in general, and that recognition is what puts the plane, the needle and the placement pattern in the hands of the director and never in a request made across the desk.

Most of these events resolve by themselves, though resolving eventually and being trivial are separate matters, and a bruise on the cheek the week of an event is a real cost to you. Leave the zone alone, use cold compresses as instructed, keep saunas and hard training out of the window your director specifies, and keep sun off the treated skin. Contact the clinic if a lump persists, if redness or pain climbs after the second day, or if anything spreads outward from an injection point. A director is on site through every hour the clinic is open, and reaching one does not require a new appointment.

Downtime

Puncture days, sunlight, and fitting Revive around a Seoul itinerary.

Ordinary life continues from the same day. You can eat, walk, work and board a train. What you cannot reliably do is look untouched that first evening, so anyone facing a camera within a day of the appointment should move the appointment and not gamble on their own healing. Make-up over fresh puncture points waits until the director says the skin is closed, and that instruction is given to you individually.

Sun is the variable travellers underestimate. A day of walking through the city with an unprotected face while the treated skin is settling raises the chance of pigment change, so a hat, shade and a high-factor sunscreen applied once the skin allows it are part of the plan and not an afterthought. Alcohol, blood thinners and fish oil all make bruising more likely, so mention every one of them at the consultation and arrange your week around the answer.

For a visitor working to a fixed itinerary, sequencing decides everything. Take the injection early in the stay so any marks fall while you are sightseeing and not while you are at dinner on the final night. Where skin work is being combined with a body procedure such as Liposuction in Korea, the order is decided after examination and the two are spaced apart where doing both at once would be poor practice. If your trip has room for a second slot, a review before you fly lets a director look at the zone once it has calmed.

Category Comparison

Belotero Revive and Rejuran, two booster mechanisms side by side.

Patients search for these two against each other constantly. They sit in the same category on the same sheet and they argue from different materials, so reading them as categories is more useful than reading them as rivals.

Scientific Evidence

What the published skin-science literature covers behind this category.

Three papers describe the background this category of treatment reasons from. A 2019 paper in International Journal of Molecular Sciences addresses molecular mechanisms of dermal aging and antiaging approaches (Shin, 2019). A 1989 in vivo study in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology reports age-related mechanical properties of human skin (Escoffier, 1989). A 2010 overview in Journal of Cell Science sets out the extracellular matrix at a glance (Frantz, 2010). Those papers speak to skin biology as it has been studied. None of them reports on treatment at G Clinic, none of them evaluates this product, and none of them forecasts what your own skin will do. Anything about your own outcome is a conversation for the examination chair.

FAQ

Belotero Revive questions asked ahead of a flight to Seoul.

Is Belotero Revive a filler or a skin booster?

It sits on the booster part of the G Clinic sheet. The base molecule, hyaluronic acid, is shared with contouring products, but the preparation is manufactured with glycerol and placed through a plane of skin to hold water there, whereas a contouring gel is engineered to sit in a pocket and support a shape. Same molecule family, different product, different placement and a different question being answered in the room.

How does this differ from the Rejuran line at the same clinic?

By material and by reasoning. This preparation argues from water held in the dermis; the Rejuran Healer line uses a salmon-derived polynucleotide and argues from conditioning the dermal environment. Both are boosters, both leave your contour where it was, and both are planned as a course. A director selects between them on what your examination shows about how your skin behaves, so the decision is made after looking at you.

Why are there two volumes listed for this treatment?

Because coverage differs between patients. A smaller option suits a targeted zone such as the cheeks; a larger option suits full-face work extending out to the temples and jawline. The volume is decided by the map the director draws on your skin at examination, and nobody is moved up a line to make the plan look more substantial. If the mapped area is small, the smaller option is what you are quoted for.

Can I have this and another booster in one appointment?

Sometimes, and it is decided after examination. Materials on the booster sheet, including Juvelook, have separate indications, and combining two of them on one day is only worth doing where the skin picture genuinely calls for both. Where a director judges that stacking them would be poor practice, the visits are spaced and you are told the reasoning. Each line remains its own entry on the quotation either way.

Will I be asleep or sedated for the injection?

Neither. You sit awake under a numbing cream and can talk with the team throughout, including asking for a pause when something feels sharp. Sedation forms no part of this appointment. It exists as an optional extra at additional cost in connection with other procedures on the clinic menu, and any question about medication is answered by your director in person, since no drug is named anywhere on this website.

Will it help acne scarring or visibly large pores?

Pore appearance is listed among the outcomes the clinic associates with this category of treatment, and better-hydrated skin does read smoother under light. Depressed acne scarring is a structural problem in the dermis and hydration does not fill it. A director will separate those two on examination and will say clearly where your particular skin sits, including when the answer is that this treatment addresses only part of what is bothering you.

How soon can I put make-up back on?

Once the puncture points have closed, and your director tells you individually when that is, in place of a leaflet figure. Most patients are more concerned about the first evening, when the treated zone still looks like skin that was injected an hour earlier. If you are being photographed within a day of the appointment, move the appointment. Sunscreen goes back on as soon as the skin tolerates it.

What if I have had hyaluronic acid injected before?

Say so at the consultation, including roughly when and where on your face, because it changes how a director plans the placement. Previous work is not a barrier by itself. A previous hypersensitivity reaction to a hyaluronic acid product is a different matter entirely and takes this material off the table, with no test dose offered as a way around it. That declaration is your responsibility and the clinic asks for it directly.

Can I have it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No, and the answer does not change on request. Elective injectable treatment is ruled out through pregnancy and for the period you are breastfeeding, and a director will decline the booking and explain why rather than negotiate a smaller version of it. Come back afterwards and have the examination then, when the skin condition being assessed will in any case be a different one from the one you have now.

What can actually go wrong with a hydrating HA injection?

Bruising is the commonest event and can take most of a week to fade on the cheek. Swelling, tenderness, pinkness, itching and small raised areas at the deposit points belong to the first day or two. Less often a palpable lump forms, an entry point becomes infected, pigment changes after inflammation, or the injected preparation provokes a hypersensitivity reaction. Vascular complications are recognised with injectables in general and shape how a director places material.

How many visits does a course usually take?

The clinic has not published a course schedule for this specific line, so you will not find a number invented on this page. Boosters as a category are planned over repeated visits because they work on the dermal environment across time. Your director sets a realistic rhythm after examining you, revises it at your review once the first result has settled, and does not sell you a fixed package in advance.

Can I combine skin work with a body treatment on one trip?

Frequently, provided the sequencing is decided after you have been examined. Patients often pair a booster with body contouring such as G-fat Fat Dissolving Injection, taking one at each end of the stay so the settling days fall where they matter least to the itinerary. Where combining two things in a single visit would be poor practice, your director spaces them out and tells you the reason.

How do I get a quotation before I fly to Seoul?

Send your travel dates and a description of what is bothering your skin through the consultation form, and our coordinators reply in English on whichever messenger you prefer and hold a slot around your itinerary. Consultation at the Gangnam clinic carries no fee, and you can ask about the material, the two published volumes and the rates before committing to anything at all.
